Help Support The Heroes We Love: This month, we’re continue our highlighting of DC All In, this time highlighting new series coming out of the company wide intiative. First up, we turn our eyes to the relaunch of the JSA, overseen by Jeff Lemire and Diego Olortegui. Jeff Lemire is a fellow Canadian, and an indie book darling that has been floating around the Big Two for over a decade. Diego is a kinetic artist just coming off a fantastic run on the Jay Garrick: The Flash title. Here’s hoping these two creators build something special for DC’s oldest superhero squad. And you can read the opening salvos of their story at DC Universe Infinite, when you subscribe to the Ultra Annual Level (which runs the price of $170 CAD).
Weekly Omissions – Batman: The Long Halloween – The Last Halloween #2, Multiversus: Collision Detected #4
Hero Of The Week – Apparently all it takes to keep Bruce from the top is a limit in Weekly books so he doesn’t have 4 plus Appearances. With the Batman skipping the week entirely, we had a two way tie for Hero Of The Week. Superman and Swamp Thing both brought in 9 Points over a single Appearance.
Antagonist Of The Week – This week saw Pamela Isley bring in 10 Points over a single Appearance. This performance not only netted her Antagonist and Performance Of The Week, but it also saw her overtake Amanda Waller to become the Top Scoring Antagonist of 2024. It seems unlikely that anyone else will dethrone her, as only Amanda and Pamela have broke 100 Points for the Antagonists.
Book Of The Week – It was a very tight race between Action Comics and Poison Ivy/Swamp Thing: Feral Trees. Both would cross the 20 Point threshold, but Action Comics #1073 would edge out a win for Book of The Week, bringing in 22 Points over 5 Characters.
Power Of The Week – This week we’re highlighting a thematic use of a power usage. Over in Poison Ivy/Swamp Thing: Feral Trees, Poison Ivy’s Rage is used to define Pamela in relation to Levi Kamei, the Swamp Thing. Ivy’s Rage is so rooted in the human world, even as she walks amongst the Green; never fully in, never fully out.
