Ant-Man steals the spotlight in a big way to start the month of June. Scott Lang has a giant-sized performance and scores five times the number of points as his previous best weekly performance. His 20 points in two new team-up books, with two different Wasps, safely secure his first “Hero of the Week” title. Gambit follows behind in second place with a 13 point score in three books. The two top characters are as thick as thieves as they feature in the top books of the week. Gambit finally joins up with the Red X-Men team which produces 30 points for six drafted characters, and he continues to appear in the Gold team’s build-up to the wedding of Kitty and Colossus. Gold notches a total of 29 points for six X-characters.
Nightcrawler and Storm follow Gambit’s lead and make their marks in both the colorful X-Men titles. They put up 10 points and tie with the Nadia van Dyne version of Wasp for third place. Nadia’s 10 points in the 23rd week of 2018 represent her best performance in a year when she put up 13 points in the 23rd week of 2017. Black Panther finishes his ‘Rise’ as the miniseries comes to a close. T’Challa earns nine points which is good enough for sole possession of sixth place. As one of his books ends, two new ongoing titles launch for Deadpool and Doctor Strange. The mutant mercenary is starting fresh after he wiped his mind at the end of his previous series, while Doctor Strange looks to the stars for a way to reconnect with magic. They score seven points and tie with Jean Grey and Rogue to round out the top heroes for the week.
Hero and power usages are a combination of all Fantasy Comic League divisions: Asgard, Danger Room, Do You Even Comic Book, Latveria, Midtown, Multiverse, Negative Zone and Wakanda. League participants should cross-reference the official points with their hero roster and drafted powers for their heroes’ scores.
