Help Support The Heroes We Love: This month, we’re highlighting various aspects of the Crossover Event “We Are Yesterday” happening in Batman/Superman: World’s Finest and Justice League Unlimited. And we end by highlighting Dan Mora and his incredible output. Mora has been keeping pace at two books monthly for DC for sometime, while delivering some of the finest Superhero work at the Big 2. While World’s Finest with Mark Waid has been a mainstay, he’s also helped helped launch the Justice League Unlimited era of DC with Waid, worked on Shazam with Waid, elevated Joshua Williamson with Superman, and he’s even running over to Skybound to do Transformers with Robert Kirkman. Mora is one of the most prolific and talented individuals drawing funny books, so please check out his work at DC Universe Infinite, when you subscribe to the Ultra Annual Level (which runs the price of $170 CAD).
Weekly Omissions – Absolute Martian Manhunter #3, Absolute Wonder Woman #8, Peacemaker Presents: The Vigilante/Eagly Double Feature #3
Hero Of The Week – We end May with a solid week where the Bat-Family and the Super-Family alike are nowhere to be seen in the top rankings. This week saw Rex Murphy, the Element Man himself, Metamorpho take both Hero and Performance Of The Week, with an 18 Point Appearance. Not too bad Rexy, shame your Series has come to an end.
Antagonist Of The Week – There was a good fight at the top of the Antagonist pile this week. We had classic Bat-Family representation in the form of Hush, who brought 9 Points in a single Appearance. We had our classic Super-Family representation, with Lex Luthor bringing in 10 Points over 2 Appearances. But it would be the main star of the “We Are Yesterday”, Gorilla Grodd who would take Antagonist Of The Week with a simple 10 Point singular Appearance.
Book Of The Week – It’s Event week, so of course our Book Of The Week goes to Justice League Unlimited #7, which brought in 113 Points over 35 Characters.
Power Of The Week – So one of my favourite usages of a Power is when a character utilizes their ability to a new height, a surplus of power they didn’t know they had. After many debates around it, we settled on scoring this robustness of power as Strength, which is what Air Wave did this week to score Power Of The Week.
Welcome To The League – We have 1 New Hero, and 2 New Antagonists joining the League: Green Lantern (Abin Sur); Magenta (Francis Kane), The Shade (Richard Swift)
