Help Support The Heroes We Love: This month, we’re highlighting Pride, the type that goes beyond a single annual one-shot. This week we’re focusing on Poison Ivy by G Willow Wilson once more. This book is proof that giving a title long enough to breath is important. While I have not loved everything Wilson has done at the time of its inception, I’ve fallen in love with every choice she has made after having time to sit with it. Janet from HR, eco-terrorist Ivy, super-villain throuples, origin revisions; all of these things have been incredibly powerful because Willow had time to do it properly. She’s filled the book with insight and revelation, making it one of the defining titles of this era of DC. And you can read over 30 powerful issues of this story at DC Universe Infinite, when you subscribe to the Ultra Annual Level (which runs the price of $170 CAD).
Weekly Omissions – Absolute Batman #9, DC Vs. Vampires: World War V #10
Hero Of The Week – It’s your usual standings for Hero and Performance Of The Week. Hero Of The Week went to Bruce Wayne, who brought in 23 Points over 3 Appearances. Meanwhile, Performance Of The Week went to Clark Kent, who brought in 13 Points over a single Appearance.
Antagonist Of The Week – Well, with only 3 scoring Antagonists appearing this week, it’s not much of a fight for top contender. Antagonist Of The Week goes to Arion The Sorceror, who is actually serving in a Heroic role in Aquaman by Jeremy Adams. Arion brought in 5 Points in a single Appearance.
Book Of The Week – What a weird week for Books. So we don’t have any Titles that brought in single digits, but only one Title brought in 20+ Points, meaning 90% of the Week had Books ranging between 10-19 Points, which is absurdly rare. Book Of The Week goes to Fire & Ice: When Hell Freezes Over #3, which brought in 28 Points over 5 Characters.
Power Of The Week – It’s a pretty quiet week, so let’s end things with a quaint little observation. This week’s most interesting Defensive/Offensive usage of a Power was in Fire & Ice: When Hell Freezes Over #3. In the Issue, Fire uses Flames Defensive to turn sand into glass to escape from demons.
