Changes come for the Avengers and the X-Men Wolverine exposes Beast’s treachery to Krakoa’s Quiet Council in X-Force and the island’s leadership is divided over his actions. They nominate Sage to take over the covert security force with Colossus providing oversight. Logan leaves the team but is succeeded by Laura and Kid Omega returns seeking help from an unknown time and location. At the end of Jason Aaron’s Avengers run, Avenger Prime and Firehair get added to the Fantasy Comic League scoring system.
Book the Week – Avengers Assemble Omega #1 (Review score: 137 Points; 48 Characters). Aaron’s five-year run on the Avengers comes to an end, wrapping a sprawling story that spanned eons and dimensions. The climatic story assembled the largest group of Avengers across the multiverse, concluding several of his storylines including the prehistoric Avengers, the importance of the Starbrand and the Phoenix Force, the Agents of Wakanda, and Robbie Reyes’ heroic arc as the All-Rider. Dozens of characters who appeared throughout the run show up to pay their respects to the heroes who sacrificed themselves to defeat Mephisto and the Multiversal Masters of Evil.
Hero of the Week – Captain America/Steve Rogers (Review score: 27 Points/4 Appearances; 6.75 Pts/App). Steve Rogers gets his first Hero of the Week with the best performance of the year so far. This lifts him into second place overall. He scores three Team-Ups, two Defeats Antagonists and one Leads Team in his three main Appearances, with his fourth Appearance being a surprise cameo at She-Hulk’s book club.
Antagonist of the Week – Ogun (Review score: 4 Points/1 Appearance; 4.0 Pts/App). Ogun gets the Antagonist of the Week on account of his “death.” His four points tie with four others—Doom Supreme, Goblin King, Green Goblin and Zeitgest—but his Appearance is more significant since he gets wiped from existence by Rachel “Askani” Summers in the conclusion of the X-Treme X-Men mini series.
