Nothing brings a father and daughter closer together than slaying vampires together. Blade takes Brielle under his wing to help her understand her vampire instincts and learn how to fight. When Binary dies at the hands of the Brood Empress, Captain Marvel blames herself for not teaching her own energy spawn more. Cyclops wants to teach the Brood a lesson in genocide despite his teammates response to the abhorrent idea.
Book the Week – Marvel’s Voices: Spider-Verse #1 (Review score: 46 Points; 7 Characters). The Spider-Verse is getting pretty crowded these days. Silk has been named the new Chosen One and Miles Morales leads the Spider-Verse movies, leaving little room for the original Peter Parker, as evidenced in Marvel’s Voices: Spider-Verse. Marvel’s latest Voices title features stories on more of the diverse Spider characters including Web-Weaver, Spider-Punk and introduces new characters, Spider-Friend and Recluse.
Hero of the Week – Spider-Man/Miles Morales (Review score: 23 Points/3 Appearances; 7.67 Pts/App). Miles has his biggest week since last September, the last time he also appeared in three different books in a week. His performance lifts him into fifth place in the rankings ahead of heavy-hitting veterans such as Marvel Girl, Captain Marvel and Wolverine. His new mentor/mentee relationship benefits Misty Knight as well. She shows up in two of his books for her best performance since the Fantasy Comic League expanded its scoring in 2019 to include all eligible characters.
Antagonist of the Week – Nebula (Review score: 8 Points/1 Appearance; 8.0 Pts/App). Nebula makes her first Appearance since 2020 when her mini series was cancelled after two issues due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, similar to her arc in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, she has officially signed up with the Guardians of the Galaxy as they save planets from the mysterious but destructive Grootfall events in the new Guardians book.
Top Characters (by review score). Spider-Man/Miles Morales (23); Misty Knight (16); Talon (11); Marvel Girl, Web-Weaver (9); Binary, Captain America/Steve Rogers, Invisible Woman, Mr. Fantastic, Nebula, Tigra (8)
