Weekly Marvel Review: March 29, 2023 (Week 13)

Feilong’s crusade against mutantkind leads him to another corner of the Marvel Universe. He buys controlling interest in Stark Unlimited vowing to use the desirable Stark tech to aid Orchis in their goal of bettering mankind. This obviously does not sit well with Tony Stark and leads to Iron Man and Feilong throwing down outside of the New York Stock Exchange. Two new antagonists, Aka and Harrower, get added to the Fantasy Comic League review system.

Book the Week – It’s Jeff #1 (Review score: 64 Points; 56 Characters). Jeff the Land Shark throws a pool party and more than three dozen of Marvel’s heroes are in attendance. Despite his cuteness, his shark-like nature in the water catches the heroes off guard. The top book of the week, a physical copy of the It’s Jeff Infinity Comic series, features little in the ways of power usages for the many characters involved, focusing more on short one-off stories starring Jeff’s adventures.

Hero of the Week – Venom/Eddie Brock (Review score: 14 Points/1 Appearance; 14.0 Pts/App). Eddie Brock gets another miniseries set in the early days of his Lethal Protector career. He thwarts a new group of mercenaries called the Vanguardians and saving Silver Sable’s Wild Pack. His 14 point performance brings him into the top 20 for the year and gives him the second most Hero of the Week titles with two.

Antagonist of the Week – Morgan Le Fay (Review score: 9 Points/1 Appearance; 9.0 Pts/App). Morgan Le Fay takes matters into her own hands when her attempts to recruit a new Betsy Braddock for the role of Captain Britain. She visits the Betsy of Earth-76 but runs into Captain Carter, who she possesses in a failed attempt to defeat the leader of the Captain Britain Corps.

Top Characters (by review score). Venom/Eddie Brock (14); Deadpool (11); Thor (10); Captain Britain, Hulk, Marvel Girl, Morgan Le Fay (9); Askani (8); Captain America/Steve Rogers, Feilong, Thing, Valkyrie/Jane Foster (7)
