New series include Hellcat and The X-Cellent. Since this is their second title book, the members of X-Cellent earn a spot in the Fantasy Comic League database. Concluding series include Gold Goblin and Secret Invasion, both featuring defining character moments for two characters. In the former, Queen Goblin dies when she is unable to transfer Norman Osborn’s sins to a new host and in the latter, Maria Hill learns that not all Skrulls are evil aliens intent on invading Earth.
Book the Week – Avengers: Forever #15 (Review score: 70 Points; 22 Characters). With the battle firing on all cylinders, two of the Avengers central characters are chilling out on the sidelines. Ghost Rider burned through his powers traveling the multiverse and gathering all the variant Avengers for the big battle, while the Starbrand hesitates to use her abilities since they burn through her body and prematurely age her. The threat is too great though and the duo enter the fight against the Army of Doom.
Hero of the Week – Thor (Review score: 15 Points/3 Appearances; 5.0 Pts/App). In the middle of the chaos, Thor reconnects with his figurative mother Firehair, the prehistoric host of the Phoenix and who saved Thor’s life when he was an infant. Though its his elemental connection to his birth mother, Gaea, the Earth Goddess that’s on display in Avengers: War Across Time. In addition to his typical Lightning powers he scores his first use of the Water ability.
Antagonist of the Week – Green Goblin (Review score: 13 Points/2 Appearances; 6.5 Pts/App). Norman Osborn looks to have won the Goblin Wars in the Fantasy Comic League Antagonist standings with his third and leading Antagonist of the Week title. In Gold Goblin, he fatally puts Queen Goblin out of her misery, and saves Peter Parker. But in Red Goblin, he is the one in need of saving when he comes face-to-face with the Goblin King.
