Monica Rambeau gets a new series with an old title. She returns to her roots in the premier issue of Photon, adopting her previous moniker and visiting her family in New Orleans. The Savage Avengers meet a fatal end in 2099 and get turned into Ultron’s latest Deathlok soldiers. Jacks Chopra, the current co-Black Knight, learns of her latent mutant abilities following a reunion with the X-Men in the pages of Legion of X.
Book the Week – Legion of X #8 (Review score: 60 Points; 17 Characters). Black Knight’s emerging mutant abilities appears to be the culprit in Angel and Nightcrawler’s startling physical changes, but she’s not completely to blame as Pixie deduces mythomancy at play. Back on Krakoa, Blindfold becomes the latest character to encourage Professor X to connect with his son and something seems off between Warlock’s connection with the island.
Hero of the Week – Spider-Man/Peter Parker (Review score: 21 Points/3 Appearances; 7.0 Pts/App). Spider-Man earns his league-leading eight Hero of the Week, but it has become apparent that even with his 21-point performance, he will fall short of retaining his top Hero of the Year honors. His three Appearances this week come from two “Dark Web” tie-ins, including one which involves a team-up with his “Amazing Friends,” plus a cameo in Photon.
Antagonist of the Week – Goblin Queen (Review score: 5 Points/2 Appearances; 2.5 Pts/App). Goblin Queen scores the same number of points as Doctor Octopus and Lady Deathstrike, but she does it in one more Appearance than the other two. Normally, the honors would go to those with fewer Appearances, however Madalyn earns the Antagonist of the Week because she Defeats the X-Men invading Limbo. This third superlative ties her with Doc Ock and Loki for second most titles on the year.
