Weekly Marvel Review: September 28, 2022 (Week 39)

There was a lot to receive in the final week of September. The next round of judgements are received. A.X.E.: Avengers focuses on Iron Man and passes the Celestial god’s test. Never mind the fact that the Celestial god happened to have been made in his image. Peter Parker, a character who judges his own actions more than any Celestial god ever could, receives a bonus in addition to his positive judgement. The Progenitor gives him a brief reunion with Gwen Stacy. The Defenders and the Thunderbolts receive new members: The Beyonder and Eegro the Unbreakable, respectively.

Book the Week – Marvel’s Voices: Community #1 (Review score: 50 Points; 7 Characters). C-list villain Mister Fear receives a power upgrade in the latest Marvel’s Voices anthology book. Several of Marvel’s top Latin characters show up for five short stories. Shark-Girl saves a beachside festival from Namor’s infamous rage. Sam Alexander responds to an alert in deep space and mediates a peace between two alien races at odds with one another. Miles uses his mother’s favorite salsa music to save Central Park tourists from new villain Earworm’s hypnotizing tunes.

Hero of the Week – Spider-Man/Miles Morales (Review score: 25 Points/3 Appearances; 8.33 Pts/App). Miles receives a few rewards as his latest solo title comes to an end. He’s awarded a writing scholarship which caps the long-running focus on Miles’ literature skills in writer Saladin Ahmed’s concluding Miles Morales: Spider-Man series. Miles also receives his second Hero of the Week for the year. He currently sits in 10th place for heroes, with his his 7.05 Pts/App average being second best for heroes with a minimum of 20 Appearances.

Antagonist of the Week – Loki (Review score: 9 Points/2 Appearances; 4.5 Pts/App). The Antagonists have taken their foot off the gas since reigning over New York in the beginning of the year. As such, none of the bad guys have broken 100 points with a quarter of the year left to go. Loki, sporting a meek 1.69 Pwrs/App ratio, sits just outside of the top 10 performers, tied for 11th best Antagonist with Sabretooth at 41 points. Nevertheless, he scores his second Antagonist of the Week with two more Teleport usages, currently his top ability.

Top Characters (by review score). Spider-Man/Miles Morales (25); Iron Man, Ms. America (17); Thor (14); Marvel Girl (13); Shang-Chi, Spider-Man/Peter Parker (12); Ant-Man/Scott Lang, Wolverine/James Howlett (11); Gambit, Loki (9)
