Several books and events repeat from the previous week. Both Sabretooth and X-Cellent each drop their second issue in as many weeks. Sabretooth also snags another Character Development for leaving behind his own version of Hell on Krakoa. Steve Rogers drops his latest issue of Sentinel of Liberty a week after Sam Wilson’s second issue of Symbol of Truth and the next chapter in the Avengers’ multiversal war with Mephisto comes in the latest Avengers: Forever. In the latter issue, Tony Stark’s Ant-Man finally gets added to the the Fantasy Comic League database after meeting the appearance requirements.
Book the Week – Jane Foster & the Mighty Thor #2 (Review score: 43 Points; 11 Characters). For the second week in a row a Thor title takes the Book of the Week. While the King of Asgard is missing, the Golden City comes under attack by a mysterious antagonist who is uniting several of Asgard’s formidable foes, including Enchantress and Ulik. Beta Ray Bill and Sif lead the defense of the city and Jane Foster searches for Thor with the help of Doctor Voodoo.
Hero of the Week – Captain America/Steve Rogers (Review score: 14 Points/1 Appearance; 14.0 Pts/App). Steve Rogers isn’t used to playing second fiddle but that’s been his position the majority of the year. He has the second most Appearances so far this year—35 compared to Iron Man’s 46—and he ties Venom for second most Hero of the Weeks with his third top performance this week. Ever the team player though, Cap maintains strong advantages in the Team-Up and Leads Team categories.
Antagonist of the Week – Enchantress (Review score: 7 Points/1 Appearance; 7.0 Pts/App). The Antagonist of the Week title is like a game of musical chairs. Only five of the 20 characters to earn the weekly title have scored it more than once in the first half of the year. Enchantress is the latest to take the spotlight with her infiltration of Asgard with five power usages and a Defeats Antagonist.
Top Characters (by review score). Captain America/Steve Rogers (14); Ghost Rider/Johnny Blaze (11), Spider-Man/Miles Morales (9); Conan, Shuri, Spider-Man/Peter Parker (8); Enchantress, Valkyrie/Rūna (7); Carnage, Doctor Voodoo (6)
