Weekly DC Review: March 25, 2022 (Week 12)

Help Support The Heroes We Love: You can purchase all DC Comics digitally through their digital app, or the Comixology service. DC is home to some fantastic Elseworlds Comics that receive publication under the DC Black Label. This month sees the publication of The Human Target from Tom King and Greg Smallwood, and the conclusion of the 3 Part Superman vs. Lobo Miniseries.

Weekly Omissions- Icon & Rocket Season One #6, Rogues #1, The Human Target #6

Hero Of The Week- Bruce Wayne, 16 Points over 3 Appearances. I am tired. Performance Of The Week goes to the Batman of Space, Midnighter, who brought in 12 in 1. I am tired.

Antagonist Of The Week – It sure isn’t a good look for DC right now, as their Russian assassin KGBeast took Antagonist Of The Week, scoring 7 Points within a Single Appearance.

Book Of The Week- Crossing over with The War For Earth 3 brought Teen Titans Academy #13 the gold this week. It brought in 44 Points over 14 Characters. This is the second week in a row the Titans have taken Book Of The Week.

Welcome to the League – One New Antagonist Added: Resurrection Man (Mitchell Shelley)

WEEK 11 / WEEK 13

1.) Batman (Bruce Wayne) – 213 Points, 39 Appearances
2.) Nightwing (Dick Grayson) – 119 Points, 27 Appearances
3.) Wonder Woman (Diana Prince) – 74 Points, 14 Appearances
4.) Aquaman (Arthur Curry) – 63 Points, 15 Appearances
5.) Superman (Jonathan Kent) – 61 Points, 9 Appearances
6.) Superman (Clark Kent) – 40 Points, 12 Appearances
7.) Spoiler (Stephanie Brown) – 59 Points, 14 Appearances
8.) Batgirl (Cassandra Cain) – 58 Points, 13 Appearances
9.) Robin (Damian Wayne) – 54 Points, 12 Appearances
10.) The Flash (Wally West) – 54 Points, 13 Appearances

Commentary: Welcome to the Top 10 Steph, you had a killer month. My big prediction is that Aquaman is going to displace Wonder Woman in the Top 3 before the year is half over. Wally West also joins the Top 10, caught in an incredibly tight race against Damian Wayne. For the first time since I started scoring DC, the top 10 is 50 % non Bat-Family.

1.) Black Adam – 52 Points, 12 Appearances
2.) Black Manta – 31 Points, 5 Appearances
3.) The Penguin – 31 Points, 9 Appearances
4.) Psycho Pirate – 24 Points, 9 Appearances
5.) Scarecrow – 23 Points, 6 Appearances
6.) Match – 22 Points, 5 Appearances
7.) Bloodsport – 22 Points, 6 Appearances
8.) Peacemaker – 21 Points, 6 Appearances
9.) Ultraman – 19 Points, 2 Appearances
10.) Azrael – 19 Points, 4 Appearances

Commentary: It’s an almost entirely different Top 10 from last month. Gone are: Solomon Grundy (4), King Shark (5), Deathstroke (7) Darkseid/Ra’s Al Ghul (8). The Penguin enters the Top 10 in a big way, charting at third overall (almost as if he just had a movie come out). Scarecrow’s starring role in the weekly Detective Comics event was a bit of surprise that propelled him into the Top 5. The War For Earth 3 also brought Ultraman, Bloodsport, and Match into the Top 10. Who knows what April holds, but I’d expect Ra’s & Deathstroke to make a return to the Top 10 because of the Shadow War Event.
