Talk about an exclusive guest list. Not just the Hellfire Gala, but the Fantasy Comic League database. For the first time in a long time, no new characters get added to the review system. Surprising given all the opportunities for random characters to pop up at the Hellfire Gala, but I guess the mutants were a bit selective in who they invited. Despite it being their party, the X-Men do not score a lot of points in the first three issues of the crossover event. Emma Frost, serving as the gracious host, is the only mutant to land in the Top 10 characters of the week.

Book the Week – X-Force #20 (Review score: 63 Points; 40 Characters). Marauders kicks off the event, Hellions offers a look in at Krakoa’s black sheep, and X-Force has the majority of the action. Deadpool tries infiltrating the selective soiree but is met with “force” from the bouncers Wolverine and Domino. Beast remains up to no good, but his schemes may begin to unwind now that Emma Frost has caught him trying to bug the world’s ambassadors.
Hero of the Week – Nighthawk (Review score: 32 Points/3 Appearances; 10.67 Pts/App). The weekly Heroes Reborn spotlight falls on Nighthawk, a character who mashes up some of Batman and Spider-Man’s most tragic backstories, infamous rogues galleries and supportive allies. As one would expect from blending DC and Marvel’s respective top characters, Nighthawk puts up impressive numbers in his three appearances including 17 distinct power usages.
Antagonist of the Week – Greycrow (Review score: 4 Points/1 Appearance; 4.0 Pts/App). It seems that the villains take the week off. Both Greycrow and Absorbing Man notch four points, but the title belongs to Greycrow for leading his team of outcasts in crashing the Hellfire Gala.
Performance of the Week – Nick Fury Jr. (Review score: 10 Points/1 Appearance; 10.0 Pts/App). Nick Fury Jr. gets the second highest Points/Appearance ratio behind Nighthawk, so while it’s not the best performance, it’s one of the spy’s best. He makes the most of his appearance in the Iron Man Annual. His 10 points in that issue account for nearly a third of all of his points in 2021 so far and hint at his larger involvement in the upcoming Infinity storyline.
Top Characters (by review score). Nighthawk (32); Iron Man (26); Spider-Man/Peter Parker (16); Nick Fury Jr. (10); Conan, Emma Frost, Ghost Rider/Johnny Blaze, Thor (9); Captain America, Okoye (8)
