All the super powers and mutant gifts in the world cannot match the strength of a close knit family. The Dawn of X is all about familia bonds between the homo superior race. New Mutants, the latest entry in the rebooted X-Men line, reunites the popular young characters and earns the Team Book of the Week honors with 43 review points. The team, including recently resurrected characters Sunspot and Wolfsbane, hitch a ride into space with the Starjammers in a quest to reconnect with Cannonball. X-Force also kicks off a new series with deadly stakes familiar to the title. It clocks in at 42 review points but ends on a devastating cliffhanger when Professor X, mutantdom’s patriarchal figure, is seemingly assassinated.
Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman, the father and mother of Marvel’s First Family, draw their last breaths in Old Man Quill, the top Solo Title of the Week. The alternate timeline claims the lives of several more characters including Gladiator when Star-Lord wields the Ultimate Nullifier. Eleven characters account for 31 points in the penultimate book of the series. Absolute Carnage: Weapon Plus, the only event book from the week, stars Weapon H having to defend his family once more from those seeking to do them harm. Carnage uses the tie-in to become the first villain to break 100 review points in 2019.
