Squirrel Girl’s most important power saves the day and turns the tide against the combined might of some of Marvel’s most notorious super villains. No, not her tail or her ability to talk to small woodland critters. It’s her ability to see the good in people and make friends out of her adversaries. When things look most dire for Squirrel Girl and the Avengers, rogue characters who Squirrel Girl befriended throughout her series, such as Kraven and the Rhino, join the fight for good against the Iron Ring and her team of armored-baddies such as Whiplash and Fin Fang Foom. The penultimate issue of Unbeatable Squirrel Girl earns a review score of 69 points and top honors for Book of the Week. It beats out an impressive showing from Gwenpool Strikes Book, which features a large collection of characters as well and 49 points.
While Squirrel Girl’s friendship may be contagious in a positive way, the infection sweeping through the pages of Contagion are more dangerous. Four more heroes – Cloak, Dagger, Doctor Stange and Luke Cage – fall victim to the mysterious disease in the second issue of the Top Event Book of the Week. Like Squirrel Girl and Gwenpool, the Avengers appear in this issue as well, pushing the review score to 38 points. Captain America, separate from his Avengers teammates, features in the Top Team Book of the Week as well. Invaders earns a review score of 21, but stands out as the only team book from the week.
