Marvel’s 80th anniversary celebration continues into the month of October. The party takes place in the follow up Marvel Comics issue and more than 50 characters from the publisher’s history are there to celebrate, from the Blonde Phantom to Spiderling. Marvel Comics #1001 earns the Top Event Book of the Week with 92 points, beating the final House of X book which has a council of mutants celebrating their newly formed nation. Thirty-five characters party to a 66-point review score for House of X.
While the mutants are busy commemorating their new beginning, the young Champions are bringing their current series to an end. Original team members, Ms. Marvel, Spider-Man, Nova, Brawn and Viv, stand against their new team members and Blackheart. Miles leads the charge in shaking off the demon’s control and accepting the consequences of his decisions made earlier in the story. Champions earns the Top Team Book of the Week with a review score of 67 points. Punisher and writer Matthew Rosenberg also reach the end of the vigilante’s current run and go out on top with the Top Solo Book of the Week with 49 points. Punisher ditches his recent cohorts out of his final plan to take out Baron Zemo, but is stopped by Nick Fury, Jr. from taking down the Kingpin.
