In the Marvel Universe, characters change their titles and roles faster than the Silver Surfer speeds across the cosmos. The Surfer and the position of Herald of Galactus play a role in three of the 20 books to score points in the Fantasy Comic League review system. Surprisingly, Silver Surfer: The Prodigal Sun, the second chapter in the mini series, manages to earn the Event Book of the Week with 13 points, besting the latest entries in the Absolute Carnage and Powers of X events. In Prodigal Sun, the mysterious title character recalls a past defeat at the hands of Silver Surfer and his master Galactus. In Silver Surfer: Black, Norrin Radd imagines himself as the Destroyer of Worlds and in Doctor Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme recreates the Marvel Universe before convincing a recent adversary into becoming Galactus’ new herald.
Other role and name changes of note include Trish Robertson becoming the new Scream in the Absolute Carnage tie-in, Aaron Davis taking up the Prowler mantle once more in Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Hobbie Brown, the original Prowler, accepting a new role as head of Fairgray Pay in Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. In one of two top Solo Books of the Week, Abigail Brand takes over as the head of Alpha Flight in Captain Marvel. It ties with Amazing Spider-Man‘s 23 review points. The overall Top Book and Top Team Book of the Week belong to the Invaders and features a character claiming a new identity as well. Jim Hammond, the original Human Torch, changes his name to Iron Torch after receiving an upgraded body from Tony Stark. Invaders scores 28 points.
