With all the secret agents and secret mutants running wild to begin August, the struggle of determining who deserves official Fantasy Comic League points returns. The new Agents of Atlas team includes several rookie characters including Luna Snow and Aero. And even though the first issue of the third volume takes the top honors with 47 points, not all of the new team members earn points, namely Snow and Crescent, due to their limited appearances. However, Aero and Sword Master have the benefit of appearing in ongoing solo titles. The Top Book and Team Book of the Week also features a back-up story with appearances by original team members Gorialla-Man and Venus
The first issue of Absolute Carnage squashes the only competition for Event books. Carnage has three stories involving Venom teaming-up with Spider-Man to protect his son and confront Norman Osborn, a recent host of the Carnage symbiote and one of the Cletus Kasidy’s targets. It earns a review score of 37 points for six characters including the Maker, who also makes a surprise appearance in the first issue of Future Foundation. The biggest surprise of the week comes in the other event book of the week, House of X, when longtime X-Men ally Dr. Moira MacTaggert reveals her secret mutant power of reincarnation. The top Solo Book of the Week belongs to Old Man Quill with 42 points and details the fatal ending of the remaining Guardians.
