No single person can win a war alone, despite what Thor may believe. While the God of Thunder fights his own battle against the realm of the Frost Giants, the heroes of Asgard form teams to combat Malekith and his invading forces. The latest War of the Realms book spotlights the various teams including Captain America and his former New Avenger teammates hunting for Thor in Jotunheim; Captain Marvel defending Europe along with other battle-tested heroes; and All-Mother Freyja gathers some of Marvel’s darker heroes to travel to Svartalfheim to destroy the Black Bifrost. Realms easily tops all the books with a review score of 102 points and 33 eligible characters. Freyja’s covert team receives her own tie-in book which eanrs 24 points and shows how Punisher helped her choose her team. Ms. Marvel and her Champions receive support from an older, old friend in their Team book topping issue when Cyclops returns to the title. The X-Man scores seven of the book’s 43 points.
Punisher feels right at home in the War of the Realms. He plays a central role in the event as a member of Freyja’s Strikeforce and has his own tie-in book to the event. Two of Frank’s five appearances come from War of the Realms books, while outside of the event, he makes a brief appearance in the new Savage Avengers title and surprises his alternate future self in Cosmic Ghost Rider Destroys Marvel History. His own solo title tops the Solo title of the week with 14 points. Punisher brings an explosive end to Zemo’s new Hydra empire located in Bulgaria.
