Spider-Man is old hat according to three of the Fantasy Comic League divisions, but Peter Parker is also physically old in the pages of the comics. The Old Man Spider-Man/Deadpool team-up continues in their joint book and remains the central story arc of the series for the majority of 2018. Spider-Man/Deadpool is one of three books in which Spider-Man appears, all of which involve different timelines or time periods. Peter puts up 13 points across the three books for another “Hero of the Week” title. Not far behind Spider-Man is his self-proclaimed best friend, Deadpool. Wade returns to his murderous ways, as so clearly evidenced by the start of his mini-series: Deadpool: Assassin. Deadpool hacks out 12 points for a second place finish.
Thor is the latest Avenger to receive his fresh start and receives eight points in his new solo series, good enough for third. He takes on a mission to recover all the treasures of Asgardia that were scattered across the galaxy when the gods’ homeworld was destroyed. This brings the God of Thunder into contact with the villain of the week, Juggernaut. Despite Kraven the Hunter, or a version of him, appearing in three books, Juggernaut is the baddie to highlight thanks to the Exiles‘ reinterpretation of him as the Juggernautical, an unstoppable vessel of the sea! Tony Stark and Ms. Marvel tie for fourth with seven points, while Valkyrie, the lone Exile drafted this month, battles the Juggernautical. She ties with Domino and Old Man Logan in sixth place with six points.
The Punisher continues his twisted war on crime, but now he has some unexpected allies on his side. He takes ninth place with five points. A pair of mischievous mages who like to sometimes play the part of the hero tie with a pair of Wolverines for the remaining spot in the Fantasy power rankings! Logan and Laura’s four points both stem from their appearances in the book of the week, Hunt for Wolverine: Adamantium Agenda. The latest chapter in Wolverine’s return to comics features one-fifth of the total points for the week; 20 points distributed between five drafted heroes. In the bottom of the rankings, more than half of the heroes failed to make an appearance in the second week of June.
Hero and power usages are a combination of all Fantasy Comic League divisions: Asgard, Danger Room, Do You Even Comic Book, Latveria, Midtown, Multiverse, Negative Zone and Wakanda. League participants should cross-reference the official points with their hero roster and drafted powers for their heroes’ scores.
