The ‘Man Without Fear’ is the man without equal in the third week of May for the Fantasy Comic League. Matthew Murdock appears in the most books on his way to his first 2018 “Hero of the Week” title. Daredevil notches 15 points, a personal best when drafted for review. Beyond his Infinity Countdown tie-in book, Daredevil pops up in Punisher and his own solo title, which features five drafted heroes for a total of 22 points, second most for the week. Daredevil is one of several heroes to side with Captain Marvel in her quest to stop the Punisher from using the Warmachine armor any further. Carol splits her 10 points between the Punisher and the book of the week, Avengers, as well as splitting second place with Wolverine. Old Woman Laura teams with an older, alternate version of Captain Marvel in the finale of Tom Taylor’s popular run on the All-New Wolverine.
Captain America and She-Hulk also represent the new Avengers squad in the top rankings. They score seven points and share fourth place with Jean Grey who makes a cameo appearance in X-Men: The Wedding Special along with her team book, X-Men: Red. The two X-titles average 17 points for the drafted characters appearing in the books. Not appearing in either of those is Peter Parker, who stands alone in seventh place with six points. The other Spider-Man, Miles Morales, teams with his predecessor in fighting ninjas across the rooftops in Daredevil. Miles, along with Black Panther and Punisher, scores five points and rounds out the latest power rankings.
Colossus and Kitty Pryde, the upcoming wedding couple, are two of five heroes to earn four points, but their starring roles in X-Men: The Wedding Special deserve special consideration. Colossus has a chance to let out some stress before getting abducted during his bachelor party (as seen in the pages of X-Men: Gold) and Kitty gets a moment to overcome her cold feet by talking with the ghost of her father.
Hero and power usages are a combination of all Fantasy Comic League divisions. League participants should cross-reference the official points with their hero roster and drafted powers for their heroes’ scores.
