As with every Free Comic Book Day, your friendly neighborhood comic shop is the place to catch bonus action for the Fantasy Comic League. For the second year in a row, your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man wins the “Hero of Free Comic Book Day” title. Nick Spencer previews what’s ahead for the Amazing Spider-Man when he takes over as head writer. Pulling from his days writing the Superior Foes of Spider-Man, Spencer continues his work with Boomerang who becomes a menacing new roommate for Peter Parker. Spidey scores eight points in his title.
Marvel’s second offering during FCBD focuses on the recently assembled Avengers, as well as providing a Captain America backup story. Steve Rogers benefits from his four extra points in the backup and takes second place with five points. Black Panther is the only other Avenger to do more than appear in the Avengers book. T’Challa meets with Odin to learn more about the coming Celestial threat. The remaining characters to appear for the FCBD books merely show up.
Hero and power usages are a combination of all Fantasy Comic League divisions: Asgard, Danger Room, Knowhere, Latveria, Midtown, Multiverse, Negative Zone and Wakanda. League participants should cross-reference the official points with their hero roster and drafted powers for their heroes’ scores.
