Help Support The Heroes We Love: This month, we’re highlighting specific members from a certain Family of characters, the guys who pay the bills over at DC. It’s time for the Bat-Family to get some focus. And we’ll start this week with the standout star of the family, Cassandra Cain. She’s been on a slow rise over the last couple years, but this is the year she’s coming for the crown Damian usually wears (no-one is beating Bruce or Dick). She’s currently #6 in the rankings, sitting overtop of the top ranking members in the Wonder, Flash, and Green Lantern families. That means Hal and Diana are both beneath Cassandra. This is in part due to dual Series that drop monthly, those being Batgirl by Tate Brombal and Birds Of Prey by Kelly Thompson, as well as their respective art teams. And you can read these excellent series when you subscribe to DC Universe Infinite at the Ultra Annual Level (which runs the price of $170 CAD).
Weekly Omissions – Absolute Green Lantern #1, Absolute Superman #6, Teen Titans: Go #2
Hero Of The Week – This is another week dedicated to Cassandra Cain, where she brought in both Hero Of The Week with 16 Points over 2 Appearances, and Performance Of The Week with an 11 Point Appearance.
Antagonist Of The Week – Okay, so this week we have a tie for Antagonist Of The Week, I would like to highlight because in reality it’s closest to Antagonist Of The Year. Harvey Dent and Pamela Isley both brought in 10 Points over a single Appearance. Both have Series right now, meaning they are in direct competition with each other for the number one spot as it is hard for any villain to compete without a monthly Series of their own.
Last year Ivy went up against The Joker, two Series running throughout the year. Ivy beat Joker wholehandedly with a 162 Points compared to Joker’s 82. I particularly enjoy that part of this defeat was Ivy’s connection to Harley over Joker’s, as she had 29 Appearances over his 14 Appearances.
This year, as of Week 16, Ivy has 58 Points and Two-Face has 38 Points. Ivy sits in 1st, Two-Face in 3rd. Lady Shiva stands between them at 40.
Book Of The Week – JSA #6, by character count alone is the winner of Book Of The Week, bringing in 44 Points over 12 Characters. This is becoming an annoying trait in the era of the Justice League Unlimited. Frequent Cameos leading to Character Count mattering more than Character Performances.
Power Of The Week – I’m highlighting a use of Influence, as it’s a very versatile power. The ability to give someone powers is a subset of the Influence power, as the character is influencing the body of another character. This was a power subset we developed for characters like Hope Summers, but also for situations where The Flash grants somebody the Speed Force. And today we add Captain Atom to the echelon of rare heroes that use Influence in this way.
