Help Support The Heroes We Love: One of my favorite aspects of comic book reading is the fact that you often can’t just follow one series to get a full story anymore. Most stories are told over a collection of Miniseries, or two On-Going series that bleed into one another. This is obviously very new reader friendly and so this month we’ll be focused on highlighting some of the new offshoots of pre-existing Series. This week we’re going to highlight Green Lantern Corps, the sister title to Jeremy Adams’ Green Lantern On-Going. Jeremy Adams cowrites with Morgan Hampton, who did the Cyborg: Homecoming Miniseries in 2023. The twin titles don’t seem to have a hardcore set rule about where the larger Green Lantern cast show up, but Green Lantern Corps seems to be the home for Guy, Jessica, John, Keli, Kilowag, Simon and Sinestro until they are needed in the main title again. It matches the energy of the main series, with a lot of joyous fun moments and a slowly advancing plot that will likely crash back into the main series before it concludes. And you can read the opening salvos of the story at DC Universe Infinite, when you subscribe to the Ultra Annual Level (which runs the price of $170 CAD).
Weekly Omissions – Absolute Batman #10, Absolute Flash #5
Hero Of The Week – Sometimes, I really hate Bruce Wayne. Dick Grayson had a killer week, with 5 Appearances and a whooping 35 Point Total. He did fantastic. Bruce brought in 36 Points over 5 Appearances, stealing Hero Of The Week from Dick Grayson by a single point. What was that famous quote Dick had from the 2018 Titans show?
Shout out to Zatanna, for bringing in 17 Points in a single Appearance to score Performance Of The Week.
Antagonist Of The Week – Lex Luthor was a dog abusing monster, scoring Antagonist Of The Week for both his 8 Point Appearance, and the method in which he scored his points.
Book Of The Week – Titans #25, which felt like an oversized issue cut down, was an absolute powerhouse of an issue for the Titans cast, with both Heroes and VIllains scoring big points. It brought in 92 Points, over 13 Characters, to score Book Of The Week.
Power Of The Week – So this week, we’re going to do something a little different. Instead of looking at specific power, we’re going to look at a device capable of scoring many powers and how it might do so. The item in question is Dick Grayson’s Escrima Sticks. These little bad boys score a lot of different powers. They score Blunt for their most basic use in combat. The score Projectile when Dick tosses them. They score Weapon for repeat usages. They score Tech and Swing for enabling his acrobatics skill. They’ve scored Energy for producing an electric charge, they’ve scored Light for being used to illuminate a bad situation. These little tools are versatile as heck.
