Help Support The Heroes We Love: This month, we’re highlighting our Distinguished Cup Award Winners. Now we turn our eye to the characters themselves, with a look at Hero Of The Year. This balances FCL Statistical Data alongside personal preferences in story-telling. John Stewart would bring in an extra 142 Points in 2024 (compared to 2023) to get 9th place overall. Green Arrow would bring in an extra 118 Point to get 7th overall. But gold goes to Damian Wayne, who brought in an extra 72 Points to get 4th overall in the year. Bat Privilege is unreal.
And now we turn our eye to the sinister side for Antagonist Of The Year. All signs would indicate Amanda Waller would be Antagonist Of The Year, as she brought in an extra 99 Points in 2024 to score second place. But in all 41 of those Appearances, she did not score Antagonist Of The Week once. So this year we’re giving the award to Pamela Ivy, who brought in an extra 22 Points to score 1st Place in the Antagonist rankings. Hero Of The Week – Another Super-Week, with Clark Kent putting up 27 Points over 5 Appearances to score Hero Of The Week. Thankfully, we had a green tinted team-up that allowed Hal Jordan to shine, scoring Performance Of The Week with an 18 Point Appearance. One week left, what are the odds someone other than Bruce or Kal come to perform?
Antagonist Of The Week – This week saw 2023’s Antagonist Of The Year coming to compete: Antagonist Of The Week went to Deathstroke, who brought in 17 Points over 2 Appearances. Despite sitting out the majority of the year, these last 2 weeks of scoring has put Slade into DC’s top 50 Antagonists for 2024.
Book Of The Week – It’s been awhile since we had a tight race for Book Of The Week, but this week saw 3 Different titles with 60+ Points. We had a Holiday Event Title (Batman/Santa Claus: Silent Knight Returns), a weekly On-Going (Action Comics), and a One-Shot Special (Green Arrow/Green Lantern: World’s Finest) competing, but it would be the weekly On-Going that would win. Action Comics #1080 brought in 68 Points over 10 Characters to score Book Of The Week.
Power Of The Week – This week was another fun Power Usage, with Santa SENSing Robot Man’s desire for an axe at the age 8 and waiting to give it to him as an adult when it would be needed to fight against a great evil. Just some hokey fun as we wind down 2024.
