DC Weekly Review: August 02, 2024 (Week 31)

Help Support The Heroes We Love: Last month we celebrated Series cut down before their prime, so this month let’s focus on those wonderful underdogs that continue on through the year. What makes a Title an under-dog? A lack of the DC Trinity (Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman) or their adjacent Families/Villains. And this criteria is such a rarity, it’s a struggle to find 5 Books to Highlight this month. But we’ll start with Green Arrow by Joshua Williamson and Amancay Nahuelpan. This has been a wonderful Series, broadening it’s scope Issue by Issue to include the entire larger Green Arrow Family. It’s been a long time since characters like Cissie Jones and Mia Dearden got the attention they receive here. And you can read the opening salvos of the story at DC Universe Infinite, when you subscribe to the Ultra Annual Level (which runs the price of $170 CAD).

Weekly Omissions – No Omissions.

Hero of the Week – We have a rather interesting week before us, with just 3 scoring Titles and a tie at all Character based level. Our Hero Of The Week goes to B’Dg, the flying squirrel Green Lantern, who brought in 8 Points in a single Appearance. This would also give him Performance Of The Week, something he shares with our…

Antagonist of the Week – To balance out the mighty power of the Green Lanterns, there exists the Rage of the Red Lanterns. And one of those Lanterns, the mighty feline Dex-Starr, brought in 8 Points in a single Appearance, scoring both Antagonist Of The Week and Performance Of The Week. What a bizarre week for awards.

Book of the Week – There was less than a 100 Points scored this week, which has been a relief during this Absolute Power Event Season. And even on this quiet week, it is still an Event Title that takes Book Of The Week; Absolute Power: Task Force VII #3 brought in 37 Points over 21 Characters.

Power Of The Week – In space there is a story they tell, about the terrifying Power of Dex-Starr’s Mighty CLAWS, which is our Power Of The Week.

Welcome to the League – One New Hero Added: Stitch (Stitch Nassour)
