Wedding bells can be heard in the distance in Amazing Spider-Man. It’s not the wedding fans have long waited for, but Beetle gets engaged to one of Peter Parker’s good friends, Randy Robertson. Doctor Doom accepts a proposal of his own, to join the Imagined Order in the Fortnight X Marvel crossover book. The “Banner War” storyline gives each its two manner combatants another Character Development in its latest chapter. With Odin’s encouragement, Hulk wields Mjolnir and a gamma-charged Thor destroys the Bifrost Bridge in retaliation.
Book the Week – Savage Avengers #2 (Review score: 49 Points; 7 Characters). The new crop of Savage Avengers find themselves trapped in a Hyborian dungeon, but a few them still have a few tricks up their sleeves. Cloak had stashed a Devil Dinosaur in the dark folds of his cape. Despite Deathlok draining Weapon H of his gamma in the first issue, the Hulk-Wolverine hybrid has another transformation in him and morphs into a Red Harpy.
Hero of the Week – Venom/Eddie Brock (Review score: 14 Points/1 Appearance; 14.0 Pts/App). Venom has the best power variety of all characters so far in 2022, with 32 distinct power usages. His 9.67 Points/Appearance and 8.0 Powers/Appearance are the best ratios for characters with a minimum of five appearances this year. Now, in order to master one of his newest Temporal power ability, he makes an unlikely ally in Kang the Conqueror.
Antagonist of the Week – Cassandra Nova (Review score: 10 Points/1 Appearance; 10.0 Pts/App). Cassandra Nova returns to the Shi’ar Empire for the first after she had once attempted to destroy it from within. This time she comes as a savior and murders two members of the Kin Crimson Nobles, a secret Shi’ar society tasked with keeping state secrets. Unfortunately Cassandra is unable, or possibly unwilling, to stop the Kin Crimson from assassinating Majestrix Xandra.
