The devil gets his due in March, and so does the Kingpin potentially. The “Devil’s Reign” event comes to a close with two issues in the five week month. That also includes the event tie-in books, namely Daredevil: Woman Without Fear, X-Men (which is putting out two books this month), Doctor Octopus’ Superior Four, and the Villains for Hire. So expect the star players of those books (e.g., both Daredevils and Kingpin) and some supporting players (e.g., Spider-Man, Luke Cage and other street level characters) to get a few more appearances than we gave them credit.
The Fantastic Four’s “Reckoning War” continues in their two books shipping in March. That, combined with the Thing’s solo title and their frequent cameos in other events recently, makes them strong acquisition targets for the month. It’s not just the main four however, as their fantastic friends and foes (e.g., She-Hulk, Jack of Hearts, Silver Surfer and Doctor Doom) have their own titles plus strong cameo potentials in the ongoing events that are not counted in the appearance estimations.
The X-event of the month, “X Lives of Wolverine” and “X Deaths of Wolverine,” also concludes with four total issues. Being that he is the star of the event, Wolverine gets credit for all four books, but characters like Professor X, Marvel Girl and Laura Kinney can be assumed to have a support role to play here and there.
Characters who have one book appearances but not included in the below estimates include the Eternals, who are heading for a confrontation with the Avengers; X-Statix, and Maestro.
Team-Ups: Captain America and Iron Man’s team-up book drops twice and concludes this month. The Marvels series continues to team-up Captain America, Iron Man, Storm, Black Cat and Human Torch, while hinting that Thor may join the action.
New Series: Fan favorite character Captain Carter gets her first solo title and the Punisher returns with a new war and a new look. Ghost-Spider explores the Gwenverse for two issues to kick off her new series about her meeting some of her alt-universe personas. The Women of Marvel gets a third one-shot book so keep the ladies in mind while drafting. The X-Men line begins its relaunch starting with Immortal X-Men, focusing on the Quiet Council of Krakoa, however Magneto is suspiciously missing from the cover. Kate Pryde sets sail with a new crew of Marauders including Polaris and Daken, while X-Force gets an Annual. Wolverine and Nick Fury kick off a new series focusing on Wolverine’s time in Madripor as the man called “Patch.”
Final Issues: The X-Men Legends series ends with a story focused on Nightcrawler and Kate Pryde. Ben Reilly’s time as Spider-Man in the Beyond Era comes to an end with three titles. Elektra: Black, White & Blood ships and concludes with two titles this month.
