The new month sees the addition of the most characters to the Fantasy Comic League database than in a long time. Ten new heroes get added, half being members of the X-Statix team with the release of their new series, X-Cellent: Gone Girl, Mr. Sensitive, Phatty, Rose Lemper, The A and Vivisector. Another one of Shang-Chi’s siblings, Sister Staff, reaches the six appearance minimum, while Ka-Zar’s son gets added at the conclusion of their mini series. Madison Jeffries and Rusty Collins also make appearances after being absent from comics since 2019 and 2009, respectively. The biggest addition for the week comes from Amazing Spider-Man, when it is revealed that the clone of Dr. Ashley Kafka has been turned into Beyond’s personal corporate villain.
Book of the Week – Fantastic Four: Reckoning War Alpha #1 (Review score: 106 Points; 27 Characters). The Fantastic Four must deal with the fallout from the Watchers’ early decisions to share their knowledge with the less evolved Prosilicans. After the Prosilicans’ use of this knowledge led to their destruction, a group of the survivors waited for their chance to seek revenge on the Watchers. Now, the group called the Reckoning has made their move, arming hostile alien civilizations with advanced technology to sow chaos, which includes the Badoon’s destruction of Earth’s moon. Mr. Fantastic leads some of Earth’s mightiest heroes into the planet-wide threat and gets a cosmic upgrade from absorbing all the information from the Watcher’s Cyclopedia Universum.
Hero of the Week – Human Torch (Review score: 13 Points/2 Appearances; 6.5 Pts/App). Johnny Storm has his best week since the beginning of October 2019. In his two Appearances, he earns two Team-Ups and gets one Defeats Antagonist. Flames Offensive and Flight make up half of his remaining eight points that he scored this week.
Antagonist of the Week – Sabretooth (Review score: 13 Points/2 Appearances; 6.5 Pts/App). Sabretooth has had a lot on his mind since being the first mutant to be banished to Krakoa’s Pit of Exile, the punishment for any mutant’s that break Krakoa’s sacred laws. Thoughts of revenge and killing those that put him there have been his main focus. But now he has company in the Pit, and he has named himself ruler over this domain. How will he treat his first visitors?
