FIRST WEEK / WEEK 2
Welcome to 2021, which is a notable year for the Fantasy Comic League. We spent the back half of 2020 refining the rules and powers for a 2021 start. Soon we will have a version of the Fantasy Comic League Bible, and revised Powers Sheet up, but a few things have changed behind the scenes.
But the more things change, the more they stay the same. For those keeping track of their own review teams, full statistics can be found in the below character reviews. House-Keeping: DC Has definitely mixed things up in 2021, first by revising the continuity so that everything Pre and Post-New 52 counts (which is confusing since some of those histories contradict themselves). This opens up characters from all aspects of the timeline to eligibility for scoring points, as a way to account for the Future State event. This is new territory for us at the FCL, so rules may revise as we get past Future State and back into the proper swing of things.
They also introduced the Elseworld into the DC Prime Universe, which is where all Elseworlds stories take place. As it currently stands, we at the Fantasy Comic League only count things that are identifiably the Prime DC Universe, so titles such as DCeased will still not be scored. Books being printed in other imprints (with the exception of the occasional Black Label book) will not count for tracking.
After a blending of histories, the new revised ruling for counting DC Heroes for tracking will be a total of 52 Appearances from their combined Prime and New Earth continuities.
We score Digital First comics when they release digitally, not when they are collected in print.

Hero Of The Week- Despite her stellar performance in Dark Nights: Death Metal, Wonder Woman fell one short of taking the inaugural Hero Of The Week accolade, with the Superman of Future State, Jonathan Kent taking it, with 24 Points scored over 4 Appearances. Bruce Wayne closed out the top three with 16 Points over 3 Appearances. After being shifted out of the category she dominated last year, Harley Quinn didn’t even break the Top 5 spot in the Hero category.
Antagonist Of The Week – A prominent Green Lantern, Super-Family, and Bat-Family antagonist went head to head this week, with Sinestro taking Gold (13 over 2), Lex Luthor taking Silver (11 over 2), and Killer Croc taking Bronze (10 over 2).
Book Of The Week- I hope this new Fantasy Comic League record holder is the biggest book that comes out in 2021, because I don’t know how many more 300+ point juggernauts I can handle. The event closed out last year with our first 300+ point issue and Dark Nights Death Metal #7 brings the gluttonous oversized event to a close, scoring 331 Points over 102 Characters.
