Several Marvel books return from their involuntary hiatus in the month of September. Do you remember Aero and Sword Master? How about the Doctor Doom series or the Falcon & Winter Soldier team-up book? All returning along with Savage Avengers as well. In addition to returning titles, Marvel drops a slew of new solo titles for some of their most popular characters.
Events: Empyre concludes, so expect a lot of action out of the event’s regular players including Hulkling and his Young Avenger friends, the Avengers and Fantastic Four thanks to the “Aftermath” titles. The youth-centered “Outlawed” events resumes once again in the pages of Miles Morales: Spider-Man and The Magnificent Ms. Marvel. Concluding events include Conan: Battle For the Serpent Crown and the Giant Sized X-Books, this time featuring Storm. The X-Men are not done there however, as they feature in the return of the Marvel Snapshots and kick off “X of Swords,” the first big X-event in the Dawn of X.
Team-Ups and Guest appearances: Team-ups and guest appearances look to be a rare occurrence in the month of September. Iron Man has been good for a surprise appearance over the past year so it should be no surprise he pops up in the latest Aero title. Spider-Man’s Amazing Friends — Miles Morales, Spider-Woman and Silk, to name a few — gather in a special “Sins Rising” interlude story centered around Norman Osborn. The other guaranteed guest appearance looks to be Iceman in Fantastic Four, which reveals a secret story of Fire replaced by Ice.
Gambles: With appearances limited in the month of September, taking a gamble on one of the new series kicking off might be a good bet. Iron Man gets a new book, but he’s hardly a gamble. the Immortal She-Hulk will have a big story to tell following the titular character’s death in Empyre. That leaves Black Widow, Juggernaut, and Shang-Chi as the other remaining new solo series for mainstream characters with the potential to start off with a bang.
