“We only make peace with our enemies. That’s why it’s called making peace.” Professor Xavier accomplishes something long thought impossible when he welcomes several of the X-Men’s longtime enemies into the newly established mutant nation. All he had to do was work with a few other notable bad guys, Proteus and Mr. Sinister, to create a mutant cloning program, proving his strength to Apocalypse. The latest House of X issue not only topped the rest of the weekly books with 66 points but also blew the minds of readers. Writer Hickman redefined the concept and weight of comic book deaths when Cyclops and his team of X-Men quickly returned from the dead thanks to Professor Xavier’s use of Cerebro and a quintet of mutants, including a surprise explanation of Goldballs’ powers.
New series, Black Panther and the Agents of Wakanda, kicked off by capturing the Top Team Book of the Week with 39 points. After intermediate appearances throughout the year in the Avengers title, the covert team of heroes receive their moment in the sun. The first issue mainly follows Black Panther, team leader Okoye, Wasp and Fat Cobra while the other agents are dealing with separate missions gathering intel across the globe. Janet Van Dyne factored into the Top Solo Book of the Week as well, albeit a small role. Tony Stark: Iron Man and the rest of his usual cast of characters including War Machine, Jocasta and Bethany Cabe earned 26 review points as they confronted Ultron and his devious plan to merge humans with their computer/AI/robotic counterparts!
