Carol Danvers, this is your life…with a starring role by Tony Stark. For the first time since Captain Marvel put Iron Man in a coma since the second super hero Civil War, Iron Man takes the top spot in the Fantasy Comic League weekly rankings. Tony scores 15 points for his first “Hero of the Week” with three of those points coming from Carol’s Life of Captain Marvel book. In the first issue of the series, Carol turns to Tony for some non-superheroic support and words of wisdom. This represents a rare team-up point for the two of them despite their current status as Avengers teammates since it comes outside of their normal duties. Captain Marvel follows Tony in the rankings with 14 points for second place. She ties with Doctor Strange who calls upon the other wielders of the Infinity Stones (including Carol) in the finale to Infinity Countdown.
Thor, another Avenger with his own title dropping in the third week, comes in fourth place with 12 points. With the top four heroes coming from the latest Avengers title, it should come as no surprise that Jason Aaron’s book is a focus of the week featuring a total of 39 points. Loki, Thor’s antagonistic brother, continues to cause mischief in Avengers and Thor, leading him to a 10 point performance. This ties him for fifth place with Fantasy Comic League stalwart, the Spectacular Spider-Man. Cable’s latest time-traveling tale comes to a conclusion and lands him in seventh place with nine points. Not only is this one of Cable’s best performances in the League, but he also manages to hit for the Fantasy cycle within the book.
The Avengers continue to be everywhere in the month of July, as shown by the bottom three spots going to two more of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Black Panther’s cameo in Spectacular Spider-Man gives him an edge for eighth place with seven points, while Captain America and Deadpool split ninth with six points apiece. The two remaining members of the current Avengers line up fall short of the top rankings. Ghost Rider just misses out with five points in the Avengers book, and She-Hulk only manages four points; three in Avengers and a cameo in Life of Captain Marvel.
Hero and power usages are a combination of all Fantasy Comic League divisions: Asgard, Danger Room, Do You Even Comic Book, Latveria, Midtown, Multiverse, Negative Zone and Wakanda. League participants should cross-reference the official points with their hero roster and drafted powers for their heroes’ scores. Please make sure to tweet any questions or comments to the official #FantasyComicLeague tag and @MixedMarvelArts for discussion!
