The infamous “Parker Luck” has a completely different meaning in the Fantasy Comic League than it does in the comics. In the start of Spider-Man’s new series with Nick Spencer at the helm, Peter Parker’s run of misfortune is at an all-time high. Despite being discredited and cast out of his new job, Parker manages to turn it around by issues end when he reconnects with long-time love interest Mary Jane. Not only does Spider-Man snag yet another “Hero of the Week,” this time with 17 points, Amazing Spider-Man is filled with more than a dozen drafted heroes for a total of 53 points. Iron Man, who comes in second with 14 points, is one of those heroes. Not only does he team up with Spidey in Amazing, but he continues his team up with him in the Adamantium Agenda series. Laura Kinney joins Iron Man and Spider-Man in the hunt for her predecessor. She follows them in third with 13 points, but her big moment of the week comes in her own #1 issue when she sheds the Wolverine title in favor of her original X-23 designation.
Deadpool and X-23 are two of the three characters in the top 12 who did not appear in the Amazing Spider-Man book. Wade Wilson lives up to the name of his Assassin book by murdering his way through the Assassin’s Guild until he comes face-to-face with their leader, Belladonna. He scores 10 points in fourth place while Captain Marvel and Daredevil tie for fifth place with nine points. Black Widow does what she does best, walks the thin red line between hero and vigilante. Natasha scores seven points for seventh place and appears alongside the heroes in Amazing but assists Punisher on his War Machine killing spree.
Punisher is one of four heroes to round out the remaining top heroes with six points. His quest to confront Hydra’s Supreme Commander Steve Rogers hits a snag when Captain Marvel and Iron Man lead a collection of heroes in bringing him down. The good, wholesome Steve Rogers joins fellow Avenger She-Hulk and another man out of time, Logan, in teaming up in Amazing for a total of six points each.
Hero and power usages are a combination of all Fantasy Comic League divisions: Asgard, Danger Room, Do You Even Comic Book, Latveria, Midtown, Multiverse, Negative Zone and Wakanda. League participants should cross-reference the official points with their hero roster and drafted powers for their heroes’ scores.
