Monthly Marvel Preview: March 2021

It takes a lot out of character to conquer Earth. As such, Knull, who has been fighting against the combined might of the Avengers, Fantastic Four and X-Men for the past two months, takes a break in the month of March. The final issue of the King in Black event does not drop until April, but there will still be no shortage of tie-in books. New King in Black one shots star Captain America, Ghost Rider, Spider-Man, Scream and Wiccan and Hulking. Ongoing tie-in’s for Ghost-Spider, the Taskmaster-led Thunderbolts, Symbiote Spider-Man and the Valkyries continue as well. So, despite no main title, Knull’s presence will still be felt across the five-week month.

Team-Ups: Wolverine does what he does best: teaming up and mentoring young children. In the first week of the month he appears in both the Runaways and the Power Pack series. Deadpool celebrates his 30th anniversary in Deadpool Nerdy 30 and blades will surely be swung, fourth walls will be overtly broken, and plenty of characters from the Marvel Universe will be there to help him celebrate. Black Panther leads some of Marvel’s most prominent Black heroes including Storm and Luke Cage into Wakanda’s war in the penultimate issue of his latest solo title. That will not be the only battle Okoye and Wakanda fight as mercenaries and dragons invade the seclusive country in Taskmaster and Iron Fist: Heart of the Dragon, respectively.

New Series: America Chavez and Silk, who have both been without a solo title since around 2017, each receive a new series in the month of March. Other new titles include  Non-Stop Spider-Man, Black Knight: Curse of the Ebony Blade and Beta Ray Bill which star currently prominent characters. Carnage receives the Black, White & Blood treatment, while the Avengers are the first team to investigate the Curse of the Man-Thing. Children of the Atom promises guest appearances by the X-Men, but which mutants sired these children remain a mystery. Nightcrawler, Cyclops and Gambit would be a good guess given the nature of these new characters.

Final Issues: Doctor Strange’s battle with Nightmare, which provides the overarching story for the Marvel series, comes to an end. Taskmaster releases two books this month culminating in the showdown with Black Widow over the death of Maria Hill.
