For the second week in a row, Moon Knight’s rogues gallery makes up the new entries into the database: Zodiac, Sarnak and Black Spectre. Additionally, Willis Stryker, a.k.a. Diamondback, gets added with two appearances to kick off the Gang War set to engulf New York City and the world of Spider-Man. Three of the week’s Character Developments come from Mayor Luke Cage’s repudiation of the Anti-Vigilante Act and formation of a task force in his “Gang War” tie-in. Blade and Kitty Pryde break 100 points.
Book the Week – Realm of X #4 (Review score: 47 Points; 11 Characters). The displaced X-Men’s quest in Vanaheim comes to a close. Magik is forced to tap into her dark magic to help save Curse and thwart Saturnyne’s plans. With her magic weakened, Thor and other Asgardians are able to join the battle.
Hero of the Week – Spider-Man/Miles Morales (Review score: 16 Points/2 Appearances; 8.0 Pts/App). Miles gets his third Hero of the Year. He gets a Team-Up and Defeats Antagonist in each of his two Appearances. His ongoing feud with Hightail gets more bite when she gets turned into a vampire.
Antagonist of the Week – Mystique (Review score: 9 Points/1 Appearance; 9.0 Pts/App). Mystique earns the biggest Character Development for the week when she reveals Nightcrawler’s true parentage, a love story between her and Destiny decades in the making. This earns her a meaningful Antagonist of the Week and her first on the year.
Top Characters (by review score). Spider-Man/Miles Morales (16); Luke Cage (12); Blade (10); Mystique (9); Ms. Marvel (8); Bloodline, Thor, Magik, Spider-Woman (7); Cloak, Dagger, Dust, Marrow, Spider-Man/Peter Parker (6)
