A trio of X-titles launch in the Fall of X with new teams and allegiances being formed. The new Alpha Flight title sees the Canadian super team secretly working to escort beleaguered mutants to their Krakoa North base in Manitoba. Members Nemesis and Snowbird qualify for Fantasy Comic League scoring. Psylocke and Penance join up with Captain America’s new unity squad to hunt down the rogue Captain Krakoa in Uncanny Avengers. Madelyn Pryor opens her Limbo embassy to all refugee mutants fleeing Orchis’ persecution and forms a new team of Dark X-Men, including new FCL inductees Zero (Kenji Uedo) and Azazel. Agent Venom (Anne Weying) and Spider-Boy also get added to the database.
Book the Week – Dark X-Men #1 (Review score: 68 Points; 24 Characters). Dark X-Men trumps the latest Marvel’s Voices anthology series, this one focusing on the X-Men. The former book features two more characters than the latter, and Dark winds up edging out Voices by five points.
Hero of the Week – Storm (Review score: 20 Points/3 Appearances; 6.67 Pts/App). Storm’s best performance on the year earns her her second Hero of the Week title and a victory over Iron Man in the Contest of Chaos. She currently sits in 9th place overall for Heroes.
Antagonist of the Week – Carnage/Symbiote (Review score: 13 Points/1 Appearance; 13.0 Pts/App). The symbiote is creeping up on Cletus Kassidy’s spot as the third best antagonist and continues to prove he has no use for his former host. Carnage’s fourth Antagonist of the Week ties it for second place, one behind Cletus’ Antagonist-leading 5 titles.
