The X-Men have gone into hiding, but there’s no more hiding for other characters. Mary Jane can no longer hide her adventurous side, and—with Black Cat’s encouragement—embraces the life of the vigilante. Peter Parker uses Ms. Marvel’s recent resurrection as a chance to stop hiding his true identity from his friend and coworker. With Orchis and mutantkinds war at its apex, the Children of the Vault—Aguja, Atomo, Cadena, Capitan, Ferro, Luz, Martillo, Prisa, Sangre, and Serafina—emerge from hiding to claim a spot in the Fantasy Comic League, and to rule the Earth.
Book the Week – Amazing Spider-Man #31 (Review score: 77 Points; 42 Characters). The star-crossed wedding between Randy Robertson and Janice “Beetle” Lincoln arrives, and quickly goes south, as one would expect with New York’s most notorious crime bosses in attendance. The super-sized issue features back-up stories with Ms. Marvel, Mary Jane, Spider-Boy and stories setting up Doctor Octopus’ return as the Superior Spider-Man and Spider-Woman’s search for his missing son.
Hero of the Week – Spider-Man/Peter Parker (Review score: 20 Points/2 Appearances; 10.0 Pts/App). Spider-Man earns another Hero of the Week title on the back of his milestone 925th issue and an Annual for his adjective less Spider-Man title. The annual showcases a popular rematch for two of Marvel’s top characters when Spider-Man and Wolverine compete in the first round of Agatha’s Contest of Chaos.
Antagonist of the Week – Hobgoblin/Roderick Kingsley (Review score: 6 Points/1 Appearance; 6.0 Pts/App). Rodrick Kingsley earns his first Antagonist of the Week and decides to focus his antagonistic attention on the younger Spider-Man, Miles Morales.
Top Characters (by review score). Spider-Man/Peter Parker (20); Spider-Man/Miles Morales (19); Wolverine/James Howlett (14); Cable (11); Captain Marvel (9); Ghost Rider/Johnny Blaze (7); Bishop, Hobgoblin/Roderick Kingsley, Silk, Spider-Woman, Starling (6)
